U.S.-Cambodia Repatriation Agreement Signed

On March 22, 2002, the U.S. and Cambodia signed a repatriation agreement enabling the deportation of Cambodian nationals with criminal convictions. More than 1,000 Cambodian Americans — many of whom arrived as child refugees from the Khmer Rouge genocide — have since been deported to a country most had never known.
