Guam Congress Walkout

On March 5, 1949, members of the Guam Congress walked out in protest of the U.S. Naval government's refusal to recognize their legislative authority. The nationally-publicized protest pushed Congress and President Truman to pass the 1950 Organic Act, granting CHamorus U.S. citizenship and civil government.
